BTW, I think with comics the same thing happens with money: people confuse it with the goal. The money (like the comic) is a medium. No final order. That's why OGL is made "so heavy" and so "hard" and as "ungrateful" and therefore people like Bachan is looking for ways to really live the comic different and unorthodox. Since when have the American public is very cult? .. or Japanese? .. are consumers, though, and I feel it is one of the problems. Purchasing power, the economy in general in our Latin countries is quite poor, much worse than 20 years ago, and since the final, this is nothing more than entertainment (even with all the philosophy and teachings and other messages and your like) as the comic is not on the priority of the budget of the people.
But who are these people that if you buy comics?
For these latitudes, Historically, consumers of comics were always children and youth. Things like social or political critics were left to cartoonists who lampooned in newspapers or magazines. People into comics in the past was not gross, worse perhaps did not want, or not allowed to play more adult themes, including social (there were countries in which artists, as well as other artists, including comedians and others, were prison for "crossing the line). So the theme was left more in child / youth.
Because children do not work, because the money for his hobby came from his parents, in an era when television was perhaps the as widespread as the internet right now (when I was a child, about 15-20 years not everyone had a TV in your home), there was no spectacular video games available, there was no such form of entertainment with which to compete.
